Dalby Forest and Whitby

🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 We stayed at YHA Dalby Forest. This is located at Locton village which was the starting point of 5.6 Mile Bridestone walk. The walk started from Lockton and then dropped into Stain Dale on the edge of Dalby Forest before entering in Bride Stones Moor and then Dovedale. The route took a climb up to the High Bride Stones and then crossed the valley to visit the Low Bride Stones. The walk back to Lockton provided magnificent views in all directions. Dalby forest is part of North York Moor National forest in…

Inca Trail : Machu Pichu

🇵🇪 🇵🇪 🇵🇪 This is probably the most famous trek in South America and rated by many as one of the top 5 treks in the world. Total length of the trek is about 50 Km. It combines beautiful mountain scenery, lush green cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the trail just cannot be beaten: Machu Picchu, the mysterious “Lost City of the Incas”.This is a controlled trek. Only a certain number of people are allowed to trek each day.…

Amazon : Along the Madre de Dios River

🇵🇪 🇵🇪 🇵🇪 Manu was established as national park in 1973. With 800+ bird species, 5000 plant varieties, 1000 vertebrate species , 13 types of primates; covering an area of 17000 Sq Km; it is probably the most bio-diverse place in our planet. An arduous bus journey from  Cusco took us to the reserve area and then we entered  the mysterious cloud forest. Humidity and altitude in the cloud forest makes it an ideal place for a variety of flora and fauna. I spotted one pair of Cock on Rocks , Peruvian national bird. Slowly we descended and reached…

Prague

🇨🇿 🇨🇿 🇨🇿 It was an extended weekend trip to Prague and Munich. This is considered one of the most beautiful cities of the world brimming with cultural sites. Our hotel was very close to the town square . This is a historic square. The elegant tower of the Town Hall with the world famous astronomical clock, the proud silhouette of the fairy-tale Týn Cathedral, the monumental Church of St. Nicholas and countless multicolored houses of many styles lend this place a unique atmosphere. Charles Bridge is a historic bridge that crosses the Vltava…

Assam

🇮🇳 🇮🇳 🇮🇳 It was a short trip of few days to visit my in-laws place. I stayed in a resort at Tinsukia for a day. I also went to Dibru Saikhowa national park and saw river Dolphins and few species of birds. This area is also famous for feral horses. After returning to Jorhat, I visited Digboy , Asia's oldest oil refinery.  I also visited Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. This Sanctuary contains India's only gibbons – the hoolock gibbons, and Northeastern India's only nocturnal primate – the Bengal slow loris. Dibru Saikhowa national park Hoollongapar Gibbon…

Dog Sled and Northern Light : Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut

🇬🇱 🇬🇱 🇬🇱 It seemed a crazy idea when I first thought about it; multi-day dog sled in Greenland and camping in the middle of arctic desert. However logistics were arranged and we reached Kangerlussuaq on 27th March 2013. The plan was to embark on a three day dog sled expedition from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimuit. We had to rent seal skin clothing and shoe to cope with arctic condition. Though harsh winter was over still it was pretty cold . Whole landscape was under a thick sheet of ice. Greenland Husky is a separate breed which…

Florence – Second time

🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 This was my second time in Florence . Florence is the cultural capital of Italy . We stayed in hotel very near to Duomo. I climbed to the top of Duomo and view over the Florence skyline was amazing. Later I visited Uffizi gallery , the largest and most visited museum of the world housing largest Italian Renaissance. This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see. We visited the…

🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 This was my second trip to Italy after 2008 and first to Venice. It was a short trip for 4 days. Just the day of my trip I got some rash which quickly turned out to be chicken pox.
