Iguazu falls and rain-forest

🇦🇷 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 Iguazu falls and the national reserve is divided between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. A magnificent display of over 250 cascading waterfalls, Spanning almost 3km across the borders of Argentina and Brazil, the Cataratas del Iguazú (in Spanish) or Foz do Iguacu (in Portuguese) make a splash as the largest waterfall system on the planet; step aside, Niagara. I flew to Iguazu straight from Buenos Aries . It was a long flight from all the way to London. In the peak of summer , the weather was very hot and humid. I had full 2 days…

Argentina … Ushuaia

🇦🇷 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 Ushuaia is the southernmost city of the world. It's a small but beautiful city surrounded by high peaks of Patagonia. For me Ushuaia was gateway to Antarctica , so I did not spend enough time otherwise I would like to. I arrived Ushuaia morning of Jan 9th. I spent the whole day walking in Tierra Del Fuego national park. Only spare time I had was the morning of 10th to explore Ushuaia . My ship was to depart in the afternoon so few hours I had , I used to visit…

Walking in Patagonia – Tierra del Fuego

🇦🇷 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 This was a super long day for me. My knee was still not in a great shape . I spent the full day walking in the Iguazu park. I came back to my hostel in the afternoon and then booked a shared transport to the airport. My flight from Puerto Iguazu was at 9.15 PM. I reached BA at 11.30. My flight from BA to Ushuaia was at 11.30 PM so I slept at the airport for few hours. I reached Ushuaia at about 8 AM. Ushuaia airport is very small…

Argentina …. Buenos Aries

🇦🇷 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 I effectively had one full day to do some sightseeing in Buenos Aries. It was too less to do any justice to this beautiful city. This city is often called Paris of South America. Stunning architecture , side walks and and cafes probably has some similarity but this place has its own rich culture . Unfortunately January is peak summer in BA and it was super hot and humid. My hotel was just opposite to the Obelix and I had a grand view from my window. My flight from Ushuaia was…

Weddell sea and South Shetland Island

17-Jan-2018 - 10AM We are travelling at full speed towards Antarctica sounds. We are expecting to reach there by 12. The wether was cloudy and misty since morning. It is snowing outside now. 17-Jan-2018 - 10 PM We did not manage to reach Paulet island. This was because of packed ice conditions in Weddle sea. So we had to turn back again through Antarctica sound . We passed through huge tabular icebergs floating around in that area. It was almost size of a huge football stadium. It was bit of a wasteful…

Antarctica – Western Peninsula (Part – 1)

We were originally supposed to cross the Antarctic sound to the eastern peninsula but that did not happen due to the weather condition , so we continued further south along the western side of the continent. 13 Jan 2018 Today morning started with a good note. The sky was crystal clear , though it was still very windy. I woke up early and went outside with my camera. Though there was not much wildlife to be seen but outside scenery was stunning . We were essentially going through glacial landscapes , with…

🥚Easter break … St. Briavels and Wye valley

🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 This was one rare exception where I just booked the stay but did not plan anything, hoping others will do it. Nevertheless we arrived very late at Chepstow because lots of planned engineering work was going on M4. Weather was terrible on Friday , it was drizzling all the day. We checked-in at 5.30 and there was nothing else to do for that day. It is not everyday you can stay in a castle that too without breaking the bank. YHA did a fabulous job to maintain and renovate the castle…

Return Voyage back to Ushuaia

🇦🇶 🇦🇶 🇦🇶 Distance from South Shetland island to Ushuaia is around 1000 km and it takes around 2.5 days for a ship to cross this. It was relatively quite as the realization is slowly sinking in that this trip is over . We had a glimpse of a world very different from our day to day world. There was a certificate ceremony which was great gesture from the company and we got a photo op with the captain and other expedition members. Crossing the Drake passage is relatively better this time though it…

Antarctica – Western Peninsula (Part – 2)

15 Jan 2018 - 12AM Today we had a packed program for the day. I was up early to watch landscape and then we had an early breakfast at 7.30 AM. The plan at 9 was to land at Cuverville Island . This is located at the Northern entrance of the Antarctic peninsula. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscapes of glaciers and snowed mountains of Ronge island and Danco Land (Antarctic Peninsula).
