Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Part – 1

๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a dream for a long time. I started researching seriously from 2022 but finally could make it happen in 2024 January.ย  I booked the solo trip through a local company based in Moshi called Kiliafricatours. I choosed Northern Circuit Route, because it gives best chance of aclamatization , relatively quite and had beautiful scenic view. Day 1ย  MOSHI - LONDOROSI GATE โ€“ MTI MKUBWA CAMP I flew from Heathrow to Moshi by Turkish Air. There was stopover at Istanbul and then I reached Kilimanjaro International…

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Part – 2

๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ DAY 6: BUFFALO CAMP โ€“ THIRD CAVE CAMP This day begins with a climb up the Buffalo ridge and down into Pofu Camp where lunch is usually served. The route then continues east around the northern slopes to the Rongai Third Cave at 3,800 meters. The trek is shorter than the day before and by now I was well acclimatized to the altitude. You arrived at the Third Cave just around mid-afternoon. This is rarely travelled route allowed one to enjoy vast mountains wilderness in peace. Distance: 8km/5miles, Hiking…

Morocco – Marrakesh

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ The original plan to visit Morocco was to primarily climb mount Tobukal. Since I was planning to climb Mt. Kilmanjero at the begining of 2024, it seemed a logical choice to do some practice at ~4000M relatively quickly. However the earthquake at Morocco created severe damage to refuges up in mountain and it seemed impossible to do the Tobukal. My orginal tour company cancelled it and then I tried with some alternatives but they got cancelled too. Finally I booked with a local operator but even that could not…

Hiking up Mount Maglic

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฆ The bus picked us up from the Dubrovnik airport . There was some confusion about one person who arrived lake but nevertheless we set out for Tjentiste which would be our base for Mount Maglic. I met my guide and team en route to the 18th century city of Trebinje. This is the southernmost city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is situated on the banks of Trebiลกnjica river in the region of East Herzegovina. The restrurant seems pretty posh with great view . After lunch we visited the Tvrdos…

Paragliding in Pokhara

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต Paragliding in Pokhara is an amazing activity . Unlike some other adventure sports its more serene almost felt like spiritual. The Paragliding take-off height is 1592 meters in Sarangkot hills and the ending point is 593 m in Lakeside. It is fairly safe .There was an accident om 2020 Nov in which pilot died and the passenger suffered critical injuries . Though the cause was not reported in the media but local pepole told me this was due to some dare devil stuntย  (plucking a flower from cliff wall…

Weddell sea and South Shetland Island

17-Jan-2018 - 10AM We are travelling at full speed towards Antarctica sounds. We are expecting to reach there by 12. The wether was cloudy and misty since morning. It is snowing outside now. 17-Jan-2018 - 10 PM We did not manage to reach Paulet island. This was because of packed ice conditions in Weddle sea. So we had to turn back again through Antarctica sound . We passed through huge tabular icebergs floating around in that area. It was almost size of a huge football stadium. It was bit of a wasteful…

Antarctica – Western Peninsula (Part – 1)

We were originally supposed to cross the Antarctic sound to the eastern peninsula but that did not happen due to the weather condition , so we continued further south along the western side of the continent. 13 Jan 2018 Today morning started with a good note. The sky was crystal clear , though it was still very windy. I woke up early and went outside with my camera. Though there was not much wildlife to be seen but outside scenery was stunning . We were essentially going through glacial landscapes , with…

Crossing Drake Passage

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ถ ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ถ ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ถ In a traditional Antarctic cruise from Ushuaia almost 2.5 days are spent crossing Drake passage. I will try to reproduce my personal diary I maintained during this trip. 10 - Jan - 2018 Our journey to Antarctica has began. I was very excited since morning. I went for some last minute shopping and also got some USD in cash from a local exchange. I also visited local prison museum in Ushuaia to kill few extra hours. We were allowed to board the ship after due immigration formalities at about…
