Morocco – Casablanca

🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 Casblanca is my last stop in Morocco. Unlike other parts of the Morocco I have visited where time has stopped , roads are shared comforatably by donkey side by side with modern cars, Casablanca is the modern 21st century face of Morocco. It is the economic lung of Morocco .  The city's French colonial legacy is seen in its downtown Mauresque architecture, a blend of Moorish style and European art deco.  I reached Casablanca in the evening . The hotel I stayed is close to western standards rather than…

Morocco – Fes

🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 I was dropped at Fez late afternoon .I was staying in old medina. Fez medina is considered as one of the most extensive and best conserved historic towns of the Arab-Muslim world. The unpaved urban space conserves the majority of its original functions and attribute. Day 0 I checked in the riad late evening . The owner offered me welcome tea. Latter in the evening I strolled through the meandering streets of medina. It`s not easy to navigate medina and google map can not be trusted always. Sometimes english…

Morocco – Glimpses of Sahara

🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 From Marrakech I took a 3 day 2 night Sahara trip ending in Fez. This was to get a glimpse into the Sahara Desert on a 3-day trip from Marrakesh to Fes with accommodation included. It was an immersive experience with the local culture and scenery as we visited quaint villages, spent a night in the desert, and embarked on a camel trek through the dunes. Day 1: Marrakech - Tizi n'Tichka - Ait Ben haddou - Ouarzazate - Rose Valley Tinghir I began early in the morning with a…

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Part – 1

🇹🇿 🇹🇿 🇹🇿 Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a dream for a long time. I started researching seriously from 2022 but finally could make it happen in 2024 January.  I booked the solo trip through a local company based in Moshi called Kiliafricatours. I choosed Northern Circuit Route, because it gives best chance of aclamatization , relatively quite and had beautiful scenic view. Day 1  MOSHI - LONDOROSI GATE – MTI MKUBWA CAMP I flew from Heathrow to Moshi by Turkish Air. There was stopover at Istanbul and then I reached Kilimanjaro International…

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Part – 2

🇹🇿 🇹🇿 🇹🇿 DAY 6: BUFFALO CAMP – THIRD CAVE CAMP This day begins with a climb up the Buffalo ridge and down into Pofu Camp where lunch is usually served. The route then continues east around the northern slopes to the Rongai Third Cave at 3,800 meters. The trek is shorter than the day before and by now I was well acclimatized to the altitude. You arrived at the Third Cave just around mid-afternoon. This is rarely travelled route allowed one to enjoy vast mountains wilderness in peace. Distance: 8km/5miles, Hiking…

Safari in Tanzania

🇹🇿 🇹🇿 🇹🇿 No visit to Tanzania is complete without a Safari. There are many Safari parks in Tanzania but in this trip I covered part of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara national park. My safari trip started right after I completed my Kilimajero climb. Day 0: I arrived from Kilimanjero a day early than planned as I could not sleep up at the top . So I had one extra day at Moshi. Nevertheless , I slept at a cosy warm hotel bed after a while and had a briefing from my…

Morocco – Marrakesh

🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 The original plan to visit Morocco was to primarily climb mount Tobukal. Since I was planning to climb Mt. Kilmanjero at the begining of 2024, it seemed a logical choice to do some practice at ~4000M relatively quickly. However the earthquake at Morocco created severe damage to refuges up in mountain and it seemed impossible to do the Tobukal. My orginal tour company cancelled it and then I tried with some alternatives but they got cancelled too. Finally I booked with a local operator but even that could not…

Egypt : Abu Simbel

We flew to Abu Simbel from Aswan by Egypt air flight. It was a 40 min flight. In afternoon we visited the temple. This village is located near the borer of Sudan. This is a UNESCO heritage site and one of the most famous Nubian monuments. The entire site was relocated due to the creation of Lake Naseer. Flocks of birds can be seen returning inland at dusk , they flew out in the morning to catch Nile fish. We watched Light and Sound show at Abu Simbel. It was one the…

Egypt: Dahshur ,Memphis and Saqqara

🇪🇬 🇪🇬 🇪🇬 For most visitors Egypt is synonymous with majestic pyramid of Giza and Sphinx. We decided to take a less traveled route on day 2. We took a cab from outside of our hotel , it was an old fiat model , looked straight from junkyard.  The driver was also aged like his car but he was a nice chap. We first visited Saqqara , which was the ancient burial site for the ancient Egyptian capital Memphis. The main attraction here is the ancient Step pyramid of Djoser which was under renovation. This is…

Egypt: Giza plateau

🇪🇬 🇪🇬 🇪🇬 We reached Giza in the morning by an overnight train from Luxor. The train was very comfortable. It was comparable almost to a standard hotel with a well made bed , private toilet and shower cubicle. Dinner was also included in the price.  We were staying in a Luxury hotel for two days . After check-in we immediately left for Pyramid complex. I took some random street cab for 1 USD to take me to the entrance. On the way few locals just climbed the running cab and wanted to offer…
