Lost City Trek – LA CIUDAD PERDIDA

Day 1

I was picked up from my hotel and was driven to the company office to pay up the dues and after that it was long and bumpy ride to starting point of El Mamey town . This drive took about 3.5 hours. We then had our lunch at El Mamey. From El Mamey hiking starts , it was about 4 – 5 hour hiking to Adam Camp . The evening was spent in chit-chatting with group . There was a good dinner in the evening and we spent some time around the fire before going to bed.

 

 

Day 2

Morning : Adam Camp – Mumake.

The second day, hiking mostly throughout the indigenous reservation of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta. It is approximately 4 hours until Mumake camp. The first 2 hours are uphill. This part could be the most demanding part of the morning. A break at the top of the mountain. 2 more hours from the top of the mountain until camp Mumake. Time to swim, and relax before Lunch.

 

 

Afternoon : Mumake – Lorenzo Camp

After a nap. We must keep walking for 4 more hours until Lorenzo Camp. 2 more Hours From Mumake camp to the top of the mountain. This is a demanding part of the Lost City Trek. Once at the top, an amazing dish full of oranges and pineapple will be waiting for us to refresh a bit before continuing. From the top of the mountain, it takes 2 more hours to reach camp #3. Lorenzo Camp is the name of our place for the second night. It is just 1 hour away from our target. The Lost City. We will be there on time to have a swim and relax next to the Buritaca River before dinner.

Day 3

Visit the Lost City

This is the big day! We started our walk around 6:00 am to The Lost City. It takes approximately 40 minutes to get to the first step, 1,200 steps to The Lost City 20-30 minutes to get to the first platforms of the archeological site Ciudad Perdida. We walked around The Lost City, recognizing this archeological and sacred place for the indigenous tribes in the Sierra Nevada for around 4 hours. Free time to walk around the Lost City – Ciudad Perdida. After visiting The Lost City, we walked back to Lorenzo’s camp to have lunch.

 

 


After Lunch, time to rest, and swim before continuing way back to camp #2

3 hours walking back from Camp #3 to Mumake Camp #2.

We were at Mumake camp in time to swim again in the Buritaca River, rest, and have dinner.

Day 4
Time to go home.
17 km / 7 hours.
We had a big day to return home. Starting with a 3-hour walk from Mumake Camp #2 to Camp #1. This was about 1 hour and 30 minutes, mostly uphill. It’s a very demanding part of the day. In camp #1, we have some natural juice and snacks to refresh . Here also we said good bye to our support stuff and cooks .Then it was last the last 3 hours to get to El Mamey. Many people gave up at this point and used mule or motor bikes to reach to El Mamey. First 1 Hour was uphill. It’s a very demanding part of the day. Next 2 more hours mostly downhill to finish this incredible adventure to The Lost City – Ciudad Perdida. In Mamey, we had a nice Lunch will be waiting for us, also the cars that will take us to Santa Marta. We will be back in Santa Marta between 4:00 P.m. and 5:00 P.m.
