ลฝabljak and Durmitor National Park

... Continued from Kotor and Budhva Zabljak is a small town in northern Montenegro with a population of less than 2000. We left Kotor mid day . Bus journey itself was about 4.5 hours. Our hotel was just 5 min walk from the bus stop. The town is in the center of the Durmitor mountain region and the highest town in Balkan. We spent the rest of the day walking around and had a nice dinner in the evening. Next morning my first destination was Black lake inside Durmitor national park. This…

Bar

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ชย ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ชย ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ช ... continued fromย "Train from Belgrade to Bar" Train journey was quite long and we reached bar at about 8 in the morning. Bar is pretty little touristic town with Mediterranean climate. This town was inhabited from ancient times. There are findings from Neolithic era. Old part of the town (Stari Bar) still has the remains of the fortress which is a great landmark of Byzantine empire. The city was largely destroyed in WW II an since rebuilt. It was again destroyed completely in an earthquake in 1979 and then again rebuilt.…

Train from Belgrade to Bar

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ชย ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ชย ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ช The journey from Belgrade to Bar is one of the most spectacular train journeys in Europe.ย It's a marvel of engineering, with 254 tunnels and 435 bridges on the 296-mile journey from the Serbian capital to the Adriatic coast,ย Construction of the line started in the 1950s but only completed in 1976, opened by President Tito himself. The central station in Belgrade is permanently closed on July 2018 and the trains are departing from Topcider. I had problem in finding Topcider station initially, took Tram No 4 to wrong direction. After former Yugoslovia…

๐ŸฅšEaster break … St. Briavels and Wye valley

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งย ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งย ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง This was one rare exception where I just booked the stay but did not plan anything, hoping others will do it. Nevertheless we arrived very late at Chepstow because lots of planned engineering work was going on M4. Weather was terrible on Friday , it was drizzling all the day. We checked-in at 5.30 and there was nothing else to do for that day. It is not everyday you can stay in a castle that too without breaking the bank. YHA did a fabulous job to maintain and renovate the castle…

Timiศ™oara

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ดย ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ดย ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด We reached Timiศ™oara at 10 in the morning. The weather was nice. Our apartment was in a suburb which was 2km from historic center. Timisoara is the capital of Timis country .ย It has a very diverse cultural background being inhabited by Romanians, Hungarians and Germans, among others. I just took time and enjoyed some walks through the city. Watched the people, admired the architecture and take in historical feel of the city. One of the major landmark is theย Timisoara Orthodox Catehdral. The legend is that after August 23, 1944, on October…

Sibiu

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ดย ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ดย ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด We arrived Sibiu late in the evening. It was raining heavily at that time . Our residence was just next to the historical center. I had one full day to spend in Sibiu, weather was fantastic. Initially I thought of visiting Lake Baleaย  and then cable car to waterfall and transfagarasan highway. Transfagarasan highway closes in November so there is no way to drive through. I latter decided to stay put and visit the historic center instead. I left my hotel after breakfast and left for Astra open air museum. The…
